Topping-up

Topping-up (or summer pruning) is usually done in spring or summer to improve the grapes’ quality in the vineyards and to balance the vineyard structure. It is also carried out to make vineyard mechanical processes easier because it enables to make the microclimate of the system better for fruit production.

Mechanical topping-up reduces therefore the amount of hours farmers have to work, increasing productivity and reducing costs, without renouncing to a better grape quality.

Topping-up can be carried out with the green-cut bar – both vertical and horizontal – mountable on tool-carriers, trimmers and even on some in-row cultivators.
